20.7. Summary

In this chapter you discovered that Reporting Services isn't the only stellar example of product feature integration for enterprise Business Intelligence software. Indeed, Microsoft's Reporting Services provides an awesome platform to round out the Business Intelligence lifecycle. Specifically, this chapter covered three scenarios: First, there was an introduction to Reporting Services by way of building a report on a relational database. Then, you created a report on top of a UDM, which showed some of the great integrated features of Reporting Services such as drag-and-drop-based query generation and retrieving dimension and cell properties for inclusion in a report. You learned some of the key enhancements in Reporting Services integration with Analysis Services such as custom aggregates, retrieving extended properties, and the ability to manage Report Servers and set up security for your reports. Finally, you learned to create a report model from the Analysis Services database and to generate ad-hoc reports using the Report Builder application.
