18.4. Visio Add-In
You can create mining models using BIDS or using the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Data Mining Add-ins for Office 2007. After you analyze the mining models and interpret the results, the next step is to make business decisions. Typically we expect the mining models to be created and analyzed by developers and present the information to decision-makers. BIDS and the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Data Mining Add-ins for Office 2007 do not provide an effective way to present information to the decision-makers. Microsoft Visio, on the other hand, has been a great tool for presentations that rely on diagrams and figures. Therefore the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Data Mining Add-ins for Office 2007provides you with an add-in for Visio to help you view, edit, and present information from mining models to the decision-makers. The add-in provides a Visio template that helps you to create data mining model representations as figures that you can edit and enhance.
To learn about Visio templates you will use the Adventure Works 2008 Analysis Services project sample that is available from http://www.codeplex.com. To launch the Visio template, download and deploy the Adventure Works 2008 Analysis Services project to your SSAS instance. Next, click Start
