I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Proper test devices and emulation
I do recommend having realistic test devices. This does not mean buying an iPhone X, a Pixel 2, or Samsung 9. You should have an average phone, which can mean different things for different areas. A baseline recommendation is:
- North America and Europe: Motorola G4:
- Regular 3G in Devtools Network Throttling
- India and Indonesia: Xiaomi Redmi 3s
- Good 2G in Devtools Network Throttling
The general rule is that with network constrained devices, those with slow and poor cellular connections, payload is important. Lower power, CPU, and memory constrained devices have more problems parsing and evaluating scripts and style sheets.
