So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Implementing push notifications
In this section, you will learn some fundamentals of implementing push notifications:
- How to subscribe and unsubscribe a user for push messaging
- How to handle incoming push messages
- How to display a notification
- How to respond to notification clicks
The code is part of the Podstr application. I won't cover how to set up a push provider because they vary too much and are prone to changes to their administration interfaces. This creates a fluid environment that would only serve to create confusion with readers and potential providers. Plus, singling out a single provider could create an unwanted bias.
