I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Installing NER
Stanford NER requires Java v1.8+ installed on the system:
- Download Stanford Named Entity Recognizer from the page: https://nlp.stanford.edu/software/CRF-NER.shtml#Download
- Unpack the zipped file. The classifier can be found in the /classifiers/ folder.
The use of Stanford NER Tagger is very straightforward. We put the download classifier into an arbitrary directory and indicate this directory in the StanfordNERTagger object. Then we invoke a tag() method on each tweet to get the results:
from nltk.tag import StanfordNERTagger st = StanfordNERTagger('path_to_your_folder/english.all.3class.distsim.crf.ser.gz') st.tag(sentence.split())
