Connecting to the API

Connecting to the API is very straightforward:

1. As usual, import all the relevant libraries.

import requests 
import json 

2. You define your access token obtained in the previous step.

ACCESS_TOKEN = 'YOUR_ACCESS_TOKEN' 

3. You add it as a parameter to the URL.

access_token_str = '&access_token= + ACCESS_TOKEN' 

In this example, we used the parameters explained in the previous section:

url = "https://api.github.com/search/repositories/q=QUERY+language:LANG+created:>START_DATE+pushed:>PUSHED_DATE&sort=stars&order=desc" 

4. We obtain a list of results in a response that we will parse as a JSON.
