It is not a big secret that microservice architectures have gained a lot of traction in the last decade. This is typically seen as bad news for the Ruby community and, more specifically, for Ruby on Rails adoption. Rails is one of the best tools in the market to build a web application or an API in the form of a monolith. In my opinion, the continued appeal of Rails is because it empowers developers to achieve a lot with very little—the power of “convention over configuration.” A monolithic architecture is also part of this vision of simplifying systems.
