Let me tell you a story. When I was in the middle of writing this book, my wife and I relocated from New York City to my hometown, Barcelona. We started searching for a place to buy. In the meantime, my wife and I settled into what used to be my grandparents’ apartment. I am writing these lines from there. The apartment had been empty for almost two years after my grandfather’s death. Of course, “empty” in this context only means no one was living there; in fact, the apartment was full of stuff.
