Managing the Life of Your Data

Let me tell you a story. When I was in the middle of writing this book, my wife and I relocated from New York City to my hometown, Barcelona. We started searching for a place to buy. In the meantime, my wife and I settled into what used to be my grandparents’ apartment. I am writing these lines from there. The apartment had been empty for almost two years after my grandfather’s death. Of course, “empty” in this context only means no one was living there; in fact, the apartment was full of stuff. It was so full that it became clear to us that, even if this was a temporary refuge, we would have to do a deep cleaning of the place if we wanted to live comfortably in it.
