So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 8Monitoring Performance to Build Scalable Systems
We are getting closer to the end of the book. So far, we have discussed all kinds of topics and techniques related to the scalability of a Rails application: database access, caching, software architecture, product design…we have even discussed the structure of the Internet in the previous chapter. Still, there is one step that I consider more important than anything we have discussed so far: monitoring. It’s essential. There are three reasons for this:

If you don’t have monitoring set up, you don’t really know if you have a problem.
