Now that you’ve learned about traces and metrics, it’s time to put everything together in a good-looking dashboard—a place that the team can quickly access to understand the current state of the system. In this section, you will build your own performance dashboard.
Access the “Dashboards” section of Datadog (in the menu on the left side). You will see a list of dashboards generated by default by Datadog. Now, hit on “New Dashboard” and give it a good name—something like “General Performance Dashboard.” With this, you should be looking at an empty dashboard with no widgets at all. A widget is each of the elements (like graphs) that compose the dashboard. A good dashboard is always full of informative widgets.
