I probably spend more time in my editor than I do in all the rest of the apps combined. It’s where I code, where I write, where I take notes, and where I just tinker around.
I was an Emacs user for about 20 years. I loved its extensibility and liked the idea that it ran in a terminal, so I could use it anywhere, including over low-bandwidth remote connections. After a while I realized I was spending more time fiddling with my Emacs setup than I was getting work done.
For a while I used TextMate and then VS Code. Now I’ve gone back to the terminal, but this time with Vim (Neovim, to be accurate).
