Whether it’s XSL formatting objects or XSL transformations, the procedure for creating and processing XSL is the same. You create a style sheet containing rules that indicate how to process the parts of your XML document. The style sheet can be associated with an XML document in one of two ways:

  • By referencing a static style sheet directly in the XML document instance

  • By generating the style sheet dynamically and applying it to the document instance

When you reference a style sheet directly in the XML document instance, the XML processor sees the style sheet directive, loads the style sheet from disk and automatically invokes the XSL processor to process it. You can also apply a style sheet dynamically from program code using the ...
