Acknowledgments

Our approach to the work of diversity and inclusion has been shaped by many mentors and colleagues, a number of whom were pioneers in this field. At the top of that list is Elsie Cross, a woman whose approach invited us to look deep inside ourselves to understand the complex and emotional issues of discrimination, oppression, and change. She invited many onto a life-changing path. Elsie and her peers were a generation of change agents who literally created a field of work in corporate America. Work in Elsie’s organization connected dozens of highly skilled professionals, and we are grateful for their leadership.
