Script Events Manager

Imagine that you want to make some happen every time you did something in Photoshop. I know that sounds really vague, so here’s an example: Let’s say every time you open a document you want to convert the background layer to a Smart Object. Before we go any further, let me emphasize the words every time, because Script Events Manager continues to perform whatever operation you designate until you turn it off.

To convert background layers to Smart Objects every time I open a document, first I create a simple action that only does one thing: convert to Smart Object. Then, I use File > Scripts > Script Events Manager (Figure 3.6).
