Filters in Actions

When you need an action to apply a filter, you have several options (but remember that, like anything, the specific filter settings are recorded). This suggests that you should do one of the following:

• Record filter settings that you can (almost) always use. For some filters you may use the same settings just about all the time, so it’s OK to just record those settings.

• Record the filter as a Smart Filter so the results can be edited. Before you record the filter, choose Filter > Convert for Smart Filters. Now the result of the action is a Smart Filter, which shows up in the Layers panel and can be edited by double-clicking the filter.
