On Being Iconic, Important, and Remembered

In the dictionary, iconic is described as something “resembling an icon.” No surprise there. Further, this adjectival extension of icon is generally construed in everyday language as “widely recognized and well established,” or being of “distinctive excellence.” It is, regrettably, a descriptor used quite often in reference to photographs.
