The first part of this book describes what account-based growth (ABG) is and why it is emerging as one of the most powerful strategies organizations can follow to achieve profitable growth. It explains its foundations in the principle introduced by a 19th-century Italian economist who proved that a small proportion of inputs can translate into a disproportionately large amount of outputs. Applied to the business world, it means that for many companies 80 per cent of profitable revenue can come from just 20 per cent of customers – which can be an astonishing revelation for many once they grasp its implications, and, more importantly, act upon them.
