Relative directory name

URL path after ˜username will be mapped to that subdirectory of

the user’s home directory.

Absolute pathname or URL containing an asterisk ( *)

The asterisk will be replaced with the username, and the part of

the URL after ˜username will be appended to the path.

The URL Rewriting Engine

The mod_r ewrite module is a sophisticated pattern-based URL

rewriting engine that lets you set up complex rewriting rules

specifying qualifying conditions, using the

RewriteRule and

RewriteCond directives. These directives allow submatches,

CGI variables, and other information to be interpolated into

replacement strings and condition strings, as shown in the fol-

lowing table.
