The Mix

There are specific techniques that make a mix go easier and sound smoother. Some involve things you should do before you ever start mixing.

You can’t mix without accurate and consistent monitors. Well, you can, but the results will be unpredictable. The viewer is sure to hear something other than what you intended.

A good mix creates a physical reality, not just a combination of sounds. As a filmmaker, you can use this reality—and you’re also allowed to break it.

If you’re taking your film to another facility to mix, a little homework can prevent problems and save money.
