Abstract
Digital and emerging technologies like augmented reality and virtual reality have become essential in modern applications, including healthcare, gaming, and entertainment. Mixed reality (MR) merges real and virtual worlds, allowing interaction through advanced sensing and imaging. This chapter explores MR’s use in public healthcare, especially in advanced countries, highlighting its roles in disease diagnosis, treatment, medical training, and health education. It also examines the challenges hindering MR adoption in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), such as limited resources, infrastructure, and skill gaps.
