Abstract
In the ever-progressive world of digital healthcare, augmented reality, virual reality, and mixed reality technologies are changing the course of patient care, medical education, and clinical practices. This chapter focuses on identifying and examining the most significant issues and prospects of implementing data protection in immersive technologies for patients’ records. This chapter demonstrates and investigates the paramount opportunities and hurdles regarding data privacy on patient records in line with its application that is provided by immersive technologies. In this perspective, we explore emerging technologies of hardware and software—including the volumes of data created by these technologies—and the privacy consideration for providing immersive healthcare. We investigate the increasing use of generative adversarial networks for synthesizing patient data and explore what these developments signify in terms of not only novel breakthroughs but also new ethical questions. Some of the advanced privacy preservation techniques like federated learning, differential privacy, and homomorphic encryption are explained with respect to immersive healthcare. Hence, we ...
