5.1 The hardware
In the following example, the system was a medium-sized iSeries model 870, but
except for the primary partition requirement, it is comparable to a System i model
570. This was an Enterprise-class machine; that is, there was no limit on the
interactive workload other than the limit imposed by the number of processing
units themselves. We show both the (real) iSeries configuration and its
(hypothetical) replacement System i configuration.
5.1.1 Processors
The iSeries was a Processor On Demand model. There were 16 installed
