7.3 System i platforms
Any partition can be given control of any I/O slot that is not currently required by
a different partition. There is, in each partition profile, a list of I/O slots that are
required and desired; the lack of a slot on this list does not prevent the partition
from using the slot if the slot is assigned to the partition.
The Hardware Management Console (HMC) controls the current ownership of an
