Even with caching disk controllers, it can still take several minutes to empty a
significant block (gigabytes) of memory. While memory is removed from a
partition, you cannot make any other adjustments at all. During this time, the
page fault rates in the partition that is losing the memory can be greater than the
production workload otherwise causes. Also, this action usually requires a
reallocation of the remaining memory among the shared pools to maintain
