At the present time, the best option for storing a large number of assets is arguably a hardware wallet, which is another type of cold wallet. Typically, hardware wallets are standalone USB cold storage devices. Instead of adding the wallet to an online service or software client, you plug it into your computer while making a transaction.
Hardware wallets generate private keys offline, on the device itself, so they are secure from any malware on your computer.
