The mode of operation of Ethereum falls into the permissionless category. This means that everyone can join the network without needing explicit access. To join the network, you need an Ethereum wallet, which acts as a gateway to decentralized applications on the Ethereum blockchain. It allows you to hold and secure the built-in cryptocurrency Ether and other crypto-assets built on Ethereum, as well as the capability to write, deploy, and use smart contracts.
