Need refers to the level of infrastructure required to support all servers and networking devices in the Data Center, assuming that the space is filled to maximum capacity and all devices are functioning. The term can apply to all types of Data Center infrastructure, but is most commonly used when discussing standby power, cooling, and the room's network. Redundant infrastructure levels are indicated as N+1, N+2, N+3, and so on, or N, 2N, 3N, and so on.
