Sociopolitical Impacts of Climate Change
Overview
This chapter addresses some of the sociopolitical impacts associated with cli-
mate change. It looks rst at the issue of national security and terrorism and
how it relates to the freshening of the ocean waters leading to a slowdown of
the thermohaline ocean current. In connection with this potential problem,
the chapter examinees the very real possibility of abrupt climate-change
issues and the possibilities and consequences of a mass migration being trig-
gered as a result. It then takes a look at the positions of several other coun-
tries and their views on national security and
