dence on fossil fuels creates strategic, operational and tactical vulnerabilities
for our forces” (Biello, 2011).
Because of these enormously high fuel-consumption rates, the DoD and
Department of Energy have now partnered on initiatives to further develop
and test energy-storage technologies, and the DoD is looking at alternative
