In LEGO Soldier, you play a specially trained soldier sent to stop a rogue government laboratory from conducting genetic cloning experiments deep under the earth’s surface. The lab is run by a nefarious scientist known only as the “Blind Scientist.”

If you choose to accept this mission, you will use Popfly (http://www.popfly.com/), a website that allows users to create games, web mashups, and web pages right inside a web browser. We will be using the Popfly Game Creator portion of Popfly to create LEGO Soldier. Popfly Game Creator provides an easy-to-use drag-and-drop interface for creating simple games with minimal effort.

Overview

In the game, you play a soldier driving a LEGO car with hydraulics that you can use to crush enemies ranging from gun-wielding security guards to mindless zombies, as shown in Figure 2-1.

As you explore the underground cavern, you’ll learn to use environmental objects, such as a catapult to jump over obstacles, or blow up enemies using powder kegs, as shown in Figure 2-2.
