The audience sit on two sides of an acting area. There is an important-looking chair at one end and a small raised platform at the other. Entrances are made from behind a darkly neutral flat standing on this platform. The backing could be black masking, possibly partly opened to show a small section of sky or perhaps another flat.
Any positions may be chosen for lighting instruments which should not exceed about twenty.
Achieving smooth sculptural visibility throughout the acting area can take about sixteen instruments. The minimum, even for a barely acceptable patchy cover, is probably four. It can be a rather useful exercise to discover the optimum deployment ...
