Chapter 3. Transitions: Beyond the Straight Cut

Dissolves are but one of many transitions found in Final Cut Pro. However, that doesn’t mean you should use every transition in a single production. In fact, as a rule of thumb, transitions should be used very sparingly. Of course, you probably already know this, so I won’t go into detail about the pros and cons of using transitions (FIGURE 3.1). Instead, I will try to give you new tips on using transitions. But first, let’s review how to apply them.
