Power state transitions

Consider a system connected to a sensor, producing and transmitting data through a network interface. The sensor is activated, then the system has to wait until it becomes ready, which is known to take several seconds. The sensor is then read multiple times in a row, then turned off. The data is processed, encrypted and transmitted using a network device. The system remains idle for the next few hours before repeating the same operation. A first rough modeling of the state machine is the following:
