Creating

The focus of the most technically skilled people in the IT organization will change. On the one hand, they will deliver their skills by creating services. The business side will create applications based on existing services and define the shape of new services. The applications may go into production without the new services and then be improved later when they are created. The business side and the IT department will have to learn to think in terms of services. The interaction between the two will increasingly be focused on deciding which services to build, and in which order. The IT department will also use the same tools as the business analysts to create starter applications that can be further adapted by business analysts. And as always, the IT department will seek out new, potentially disruptive forms of innovation using whatever technology does the job.
