• The department suffers from a “we– they” syndrome: manage-
ment versus nonmanagement personnel or middle management
versus top management.
• The top management is insensitive, feared, insecure, impulsive,
tight- sted, bombastic, and highly emotional.
• There is evidence of spite, hate, hostility, or jealousy among man-
agement groups.
Environmental indicators of a vulnerability to employee fraud include:
• Supervision and monitoring of employee performance and behav-
ior is minimal or nonexistent.
• Feedback on employee performance is critical and negative.
