IT and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities

9.1    Chapter Objective

The objective of this chapter is to introduce the importance of taking IT into account early on in the M&A process, rather than letting it be an afterthought. In support of this, there will be an example of an IT due diligence questionnaire from which you can draw inspiration. Unlike most existing questionnaires, this one uses an enterprise architecture (EA) framework similar to the one we have reviewed in this book, in order to help gather data and assess the situation as well as evaluate if the merger would be desirable and, if so, under what conditions.
