We have mentioned activation functions a few times so far and we introduced one of them as well—the sigmoid activation function. However, this isn't the only activation function that we use in neural networks. In fact, it is an active area of research, and today, there are many different types of activation functions. They can be classified into two types—linear and non-linear. We will focus on the latter because they are differentiable and this property is very important for us when we train neural networks.
