A production snapshot is literally recording real data and using it to populate your test system. The pros and cons are as follows:

• Pros:
  • High fidelity to real data
  • Recollection ensures test data is always in sync with production data
• Cons:
  • Need to filter and anonymize sensitive data
  • Data might not support all testing scenarios (for example, error handling)
  • Might be difficult to collect all relevant data
