If you have more sophisticated needs, you can always roll your own. Kubernetes encourages both running your own controllers that can watch for different events and respond by provisioning some resources or even running some tools locally, or as part of your CI/CD pipeline, that check the state of the cluster and make some provisioning decisions.
Once your cluster is properly provisioned, you should start thinking about performance. Performance is interesting because there are so many trade-offs you need to take into account.
