There are different methods of determination of a and b. We shall discuss them one by one.

  1. From the coefficient of thermal expansion and compressibility of the liquid:

    Let v1 be the volume of 1 gm of a liquid at pressure p1 and temperature T1. Let v2 be volume of the some mass of the liquid at the same pressure P1 and at different temperature T2, then
