Experiment 3—Vaccination using the Elitist Selector (VES): Similar to
Experiment 2, after reducing the set of cities, the GA was used to obtain the
shortest path, and then the expansion of the vaccinated route was achieved.

For the three experiments, the GA ran 10 million of generations, and
results are recorded every 500,000 generations, as is shown in Fig. 10.8. For
the three experiments, we used a convergence value (stuck point). It was
chosen such that the algorithm did not provide any signifi cant advance (less
than 1% of improvement compared the previous generation).
