I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 8. Honeyd
The last two chapters examined low-interaction honeypots designed for the Windows operating system, specifically BackOfficer Friendly and Specter. Both solutions are similar conceptually in that a single system listens on specific ports, captures activity to those ports, and logs and alerts on the activity. The main difference was the number and level of emulation of services, with Specter having far greater functionality. We will now move on to another low-interaction honeypot but one that introduces a variety of new features and concepts we have not seen yet. We will now cover Honeyd, the OpenSource honeypot solution designed for Unix systems.
