I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 9. Homemade Honeypots
So far we have covered three possible honeypot solutions: BOF, Specter, and Honeyd. All three are prepackaged honeypots you can simply download and install on your system, quickly building your own honeypot. These solutions are easy to install, configure, deploy, and maintain. Both BOF and Specter even have easy-to-use GUIs, enabling almost anyone to use these honeypots. All three are primarily production honeypots, used to help secure an organization.
We are now going to change focus. Instead of discussing honeypots that are prepackaged solutions, we will discuss how to build your own. By developing your own honeypots, you can create solutions that are better adapted to your organization. Also, by building your ...
