I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
A Final Caveat
If I have one big concern about the future of honeypots, my fear is that they may become trendy or too popular. As this book has demonstrated, honeypots have tremendous potential and can add great value to any organization. However, as we covered in Chapter 4, they do little to keep out the bad guys. Only good process and procedures will keep the wolves at bay. Procedures such as updating your virus scanners, installing patches on systems, and disabling unneccessary services can prevent the bad guys from breaking in. It’s these boring and mundane tasks that take priority to any organization’s security. As the adoption of honeypot technologies grows, I hope organizations keep these issues in mind.
