I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Targeting Honeypots for Specific Purposes
As the security community realizes that honeypots have a variety of potential uses, technologies will be developed to leverage specific goals. Instead of having a honeypot that can attempt to do everything, solutions will be more specific in what they attempt to achieve. Honeypots will be designed specifically for production or research purposes.
In Chapter 9 we discussed homemade honeypots, specifically solutions using jail or chroot technologies. These highly flexible solutions had the advantage that they could be used for almost any production or research purpose, adapting to almost any environment. However, as a medium-interaction honeypot, they could fill a lot of roles but excel at few of them. ...
