When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
I believe that the confusion about what honeypots are and their value has led to their slow adoption. As organizations better understand what honeypots can and cannot achieve, we will see increased acceptance of these technologies.
Honeypots will become easier to use as they incorporate intuitive GUIs and bootable CD-ROMs, and as they are deployed as appliances. Most honeypots will be more specific in their purpose, mainly deployed as low-interaction or high-interaction honeypots. We will most likely see few medium-interaction honeypots. Finally, there will be a dramatic growth of research honeypots, used to study and learn the threats that exist in cyberspace.
The future of honeypots is extremely exciting. I feel we have only begun ...
