  • Goggles

  • Hydrochloric acid

  • Mandelin reagent

  • Marquis reagent

  • Pipettes

  • Scott reagent

  • Spot plate, 12-well

  • Stirring rod

  • Specimen: acetaminophen

  • Specimen: aspirin

  • Specimen: chlorpheniramine

  • Specimen: diphenhydramine

  • Specimen: ibuprofen

  • Specimen: poppy seeds

  • Specimen: two questioned (see text)

Materials you Provide

  • Gloves

  • Salt, table (use as known specimen)

  • Specimens: drug (optional; see text)

  • Toothpicks (flat)

  • Watch, clock, or other timer
