10.2 IMS configuration considerations
There are several manners in which an IMSplex can be configured. The decisions are based
on both technical and business rationale. We present a few options in the following material.
10.2.1 Cloning
One way to configure an IMSplex is to replace an existing IMS system with multiple IMS
systems, each capable of providing the same services and functions as the original IMS. This
is called
cloning
. When cloning is used, the IMSplex contains multiple servers, each able to
provide similar functions to the end user community.
