It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

3.1 Data sharing integrity
To maintain integrity and recoverability in a block level data sharing environment, IMS
provides the following functions:
Database authorization
Interface with DBRC and its RECON data set
Lock management
Use of IRLM V2.1 for lock management
Buffer invalidations
Interface to notification processes
