It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Shared VSO, on the other hand, has its own buffer pools just for the use of the shared VSO
AREAs. The user has the option of declaring these buffer pools to be look-aside or
non-look-aside. Since buffer invalidation is really a function of XES, the Coupling Facility
Control Code, and the structure, whenever an updated buffer is written to the SVSO structure,
whether it is from a look-aside buffer pool or not, the corresponding bit in the local cache
vector(s) is changed to indicate that the buffer is invalid.
